White Plains dentist
Do you dislike going to the dentist because you do not like the sound of the dentist’s drill? Do you wish there were a better way to have a dental cavity filled, rather than to need to have the dental decay drilled out of your tooth? If so, you should visit us at Polinsky Dental. Our expert
White Plains dentist, Dr. Aaron Polinsky, offers an exciting alternative to drilling out dental decay.
At our dental practice, our White Plains dentist can treat dental cavities using air abrasion. Air abrasion is a new alternative and a no-drilling way to treat dental cavities. When our dentist finds that you have a dental cavity, he will not need to use a high-speed drill to remove any tooth decay. Instead, our dentist uses an air abrasion machine. You will not even need to have any type of dental anesthesia in order to remain perfectly comfortable during this dental procedure. The air abrasion machine uses fine aluminum oxide powder which is actually able to cut away tooth structure. Once this air abrasion portion of the procedure is completed, our dentist will fill your tooth with a tooth-colored or silver amalgam filling. Our dentist will recommend which type of tooth filling to use, and his recommendation is generally based on the size and location of the cavity. Tooth-colored fillings are extremely aesthetically pleasing because they virtually cannot be seen once they are applied to the tooth. On the other hand, silver amalgam fillings are extremely strong and may be the best solution for cavities that are on the flat chewing surfaces of molars. If you have a large dental cavity or a dental cavity that has caused extremely deep decay, the air abrasion process may not be appropriate because the tooth is already sensitive from the dental decay.
