White Plains Dentist
If you have pain in a tooth when you eat something sweet, you may have a dental cavity. Whenever you experience any tooth pain you should visit us at Polinsky Dental to be seen by our expert and highly regarded
White Plains dentist, Dr. Aaron Polinsky.
When you come to our dental practice complaining of tooth pain, our dentist will first assess the exact cause of the tooth pain. Sometimes tooth pain can be caused by a tooth that is damaged in its interior. If this is the case, you will need to have a root canal procedure to save the tooth. However, when you have dental pain when you eat something sweet, the cause is often a dental cavity. Dental cavities are usually treated by the dentist removing the decayed portion of the tooth using a dental drill. Some patients are extremely sensitive to the sounds that the drill makes. For them, we offer an exciting alternative to dental drilling to treat dental cavities. We offer a treatment method called air abrasion. This is a way that our
White Plains dentist can treat dental cavities with absolutely no drilling or need for anesthesia. Instead of having to use a high-speed dental drill, we use state-of-the-art technology called an air abrasion machine. This treatment is painless and patients thoroughly enjoy the fact that they will not need any dental anesthesia. The air abrasion machine uses an aluminum oxide powder that actually will cut away the tooth structure. Once the tooth has all decay, the tooth can be filled with either a traditional silver amalgam filling or a tooth-colored white composite filling. This technology is extremely popular with some of our patients who are extremely sensitive to the sound of a high-speed dental drill, or needles. This treatment is excellent for smaller cavities, but not if your tooth has a large hole in it, or has deep decay.
